I want to add another perspective to this as a Gen Xer who has lived through a LOT of technological change. I remember pay phones. I had a pager. My ex-husband and I shared our first cell phone because we genuinely thought, Why do we each need one? We have a phone at home. 😂 And now here we are. I don't think the question with AI is necessarily whether we should or shouldn't use it. Like almost anything, there's a point where you can consume too much or become too dependent on it. We each have to decide where that line is for ourselves. But there's another group I think gets left out of this conversation. What about the person who has incredible ideas but isn't a strong writer? Someone with dyslexia, ADHD or another learning difference? The 50-year-old who didn't grow up with technology and is trying to build something online? The parent with five kids who has the ability but not five extra hours every day?For that person, AI isn't necessarily replacing their creativity. It may finally give them the ability to express and execute what was already in their head. I've lived through enough technological shifts to know AI isn't going away. So for me, the question becomes: How do I use it to expand what I'm capable of without handing over the parts of myself I don't want it to replace?Maybe that's the line we're all trying to figure out. Just food for thought!

it's absolutely dumb, there's a lot of research showing it's especially negatively impacting our brains if we use it to write for us. HOWEVER... Things you're good at, where it can extend your ability and you've got the tools down well enough to not waste too much time, instead really saving time... if you know how dumb it is and ask it... properly, to do research better than you've got time for because search engines aren't what they used to be. if you can accept that it's often wrong. provably: incorrect. Then it can be create. the stealing and wrecking creativity; well, what i did was make my own design and style guide. I had an agent tokenize it so that it can be used to design anything. it can't be trusted to proof read half the time. the things I can do now doing my thing by helping fill in gaps at the few things its really good for is crazy. it's also kind of a scam. which is a really really truth that maybe we'll find a way around. But ive been trying for a year to get it to do my job. its still not going well. its never been capable of decent creativity. it follows patterns lime coding. so feed ot your own creativity. complaining about anything else is silly though.

It gets so overwhelming so quickly when you start diving in. I try to live/teach by the “organize and amplify” use case for it. Organize tasks + amplify what you’re already creating with efficiency. I’m fully anti-creative AI, and in the camp that the more AI is used to create, the more demand will go up for “human made” content. But shit…who knows lol.

Using AI is so helpful as a jump start or an idea generator. But I’ve used it to curate an entire post without editing it much and it came back to bite me. We cannot STOP thinking for ourselves. If we allow AI to replace logic or rationale, it’s not a good thing and it could definitely cause negative consequences. Also, I did a whole series on my profile about controlling how and when we educate our children in the usage of AI. It must not be part of elementary education when the fundamentals are imperative to development and growth…(but I digress 😒).

In the beginning, I was sick and tired of seeing ads for losing weight showing famous people and realizing that it was not them it’s all AI. The second aspect that hit me was the fact that parts of the media are telling us that they consume a ton of water and we may have water shortages in this country. Overall, I’ve settled into the fact that a tear and it’s here to stay and I’ve began using it with an avatar that I created someone who’s better to look at than I am and and I may use it for fun things no harm.

I agree with both points. As a mom I am totally against AI because kids think they can use it for everything and don't use critical thinking etc..I personally didn't like the thought of AI either. However, it does seem to help regarding work load. In fact I spend hours creating and editing my videos...so thinking AI is better for that to save on time..😊
