I see you… You were asking for safety, closeness, and clarity, and that’s valid. But when you’re anxiously attached and with someone avoidant, the things that make *you* feel safe can unintentionally activate *their* threat response. This is the anxious-avoidant trap. We start to unitentionally trigger each other.
You’re trying to close the emotional gap so you can feel safe… and they’re trying to widen it to breathe and release pressure. So when you say “we need to talk,” they hear “you’re doing something wrong.” When you ask “do you even care about me?” they don’t hear your fear, they hear pressure. And when you seek reassurance, they feel like they’re being pulled into something they don’t know how to do. None of this makes your emotions too much. It just means you are trying to regulate your feels and fears through someone who can’t hold space for them. Healing our anxious attachment isn’t about being less emotional, (thats the myth). Your emotions are a strength. It’s actually about learning how to feel manage them emotions so you can feel safe in your own body *first*, so your nervous system isn’t begging someone else to calm the fears inside. YOU can be the rock you need. And… just remember: The right person won’t trigger your fears or punish you for your emotional depth, they will know what to do with it and show up with understanding not silence. #relationshipadvice #breakuprecovery #ex #nocontact #avoidant #lettinggo #psychologist #HealingJourney #movingo
