The title is a tribute to Bryan Glancy - a Mancunian musician and close friend of Guy Garvey, nicknamed The Seldom Seen Kid by Garvey’s father, who died in 2006. Several tracks were written in response to his death. Self-produced entirely in Manchester, their first album without any outside help. Won the Mercury Prize, spent 144 weeks in the UK top 100, sold over a million copies. One Day Like This won the Ivor Novello for Best Song.
