Why std::string_view Is So Much Faster Than std::string Why can `std::string_view` be dramatically faster than `std::string`? When you pass a string literal to a function expecting `const std::string&`, C++ may need to construct a temporary `std::string`. And when you use `std::string::substr()`, a new string is created and the characters are copied. For a single operation, this may not matter. But in parsers, log processing, network servers, and other performance-sensitive code, these copies and allocations can happen millions of times. C++17 introduced `std::string_view` as a simple way to look at existing string data without owning it. Understanding that difference is essential if you want to use `string_view` safely and effectively in modern C++. #CPlusPlus #CPP #StringView #Programming #Performance
