@josiegracie220: In 1867 Arabella is working in a gambling parlor at 17 years old. She can sing and play the piano and she is the sole bread winner in her poor family. When she catches the eye of Collis Huntington, a railroad baron, he falls madly in love. Eventhough he is married he asks her to come back to New York with him and live as his mistress. She says yes and takes her whole family with her. She is thrust into the middle of the gilded age with the Astors and the Vanderbilts. How can a poor country gitl survive among these rich elite women? A great book and a must read if you like that time period. An American Beauty by Shana Abe’. 5 stars
