@mamaot_shannon: I’m not making my kids a separate dinner. 👏🏼 Tonight they’re eating what we’re eating: homemade breaded chicken tenders + butternut squash ravioli. As a pediatric feeding therapist AND mom, this is the mealtime mindset I come back to over and over: My job: decide what we serve, when we serve it, and where we eat. Their job: decide whether they eat and how much they eat. That means I’m not forcing bites, bribing them to finish their food, or immediately making a backup meal if they don’t want what I served. I provide the food. They decide what goes in their body. Some nights they’ll eat everything. Some nights they’ll barely eat anything. Save this for the next time you feel like you’re running a restaurant for your toddler 😂 #ToddlerFeeding #PickyEating #ResponsiveFeeding #ToddlerMeals #FeedingTherapy
How do I get my 16 month to start eating more foods? She has her safe foods and I’ll do 1 of those with new, but she will just throw the new stuff. 😭 She has her favorites and sticks to them.

This! But I always add a couple “safe” foods on their plates too because I find that once they start eating those they are more likely to continue eating the other foods.
