@justinfreakin: Father Warns Of Dangerous ‘Benadryl Challenge’ After His Daughter Dies OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Social media trends come and go, and while some may be humorous, others can be dangerous. One Oklahoma family is heartbroken after their daughter died trying a TikTok trend. Enid resident Richard Presson’s 15 year-old daughter Leah was fighting for her life in the hospital last week. She’d been taken there after having seizures from doing the “Benadryl challenge.” On TikTok, the excessive ingestion of the allergy medication Benadryl is promoted as a way to experience hallucinations. Now, Presson is warning other parents of the dangers lurking in online “challenges” like these. “I just want everybody to be aware to where they can educate their kids,” he said. “But these challenges are just silly, and they need to be educated so it don’t happen again.” Child psychiatrist, Dr. Chandler Hicks, said that sometimes children often don’t recognize the danger of social media trends, so the conversation needs to be ongoing with them. “If your child is using iPads or on Roblox or other different gaming devices, they may be exposed to bad things, and you should start that from a young age,” said Dr. Chandler Hicks, a child psychiatrist at OU Health.
