Oh miyazaki got a point. He meant that you need to study all kinds and forms of art. Theatre, movies outside your fav genre, listen to classical music, travel and go outside, observe the people around you (as an introvert it is hard). But it does broaden your ideas and horizon

Not just anime, all art! I tell students in college that they need to understand all forms of art and shouldn’t be limiting themselves to just things they like. You need to have an understanding of all art, even stuff you hate!
