For #2, start the document from your personal account and give access to your work account. You can use that data to update your resume and if HR/IT wipes your computer in the event of a lay off or termination, all that data will be gone if it isn’t accessible elsewhere.

: Sometimes I take a step back and laugh at all of this.. like when did a job get to this point. It’s a job within a job. Because at the end, it’s all made up.. do I want to move up, yeah? Am I going to add more work and do all of this, not likely. At this point of my career I just want to do my job and call it a day …. We’re not out here saving lives or doing anything important . Give me my check and let’s move on.

I so appreciate this. And…. I hate how much modern corporate work life is this. Ya know? Like why is 20% of your job making others see your job?

One thing that helped me move into my manager role was documenting the work I was actually doing. I felt undervalued and underpaid, and I knew I was contributing beyond my entry-level title. So I made a list of my responsibilities and used Claude to compare them with the role I officially held, including work I was doing for a position I hadn’t been promoted into yet. I turned that comparison into a PowerPoint. When I eventually put in my notice, I shared it with leadership. It helped make my case, and I ended up getting the promotion and raise. If you’re in a similar spot, I’d start by writing down everything you do, especially the work that goes beyond your job description.

I asked Claude to create a whole sheet which puts all my wins in category and created a whole dashboard to calculate the sum of each category it’s so dope! Aka my Brag Sheet! This is soo good to measure success for performance reviews

Content like this deserves visuals. Talking isn’t that helpful.
