@aunt__bri: @All American Flooring my husband uses a cane and can’t walk upstairs in our home anymore. For months now you have refused to fix the problem . We can’t afford to pay for the floors again and all I want is to find a way for my family to SAFELY walk upstairs or my money back so I can pay someone else to fix it.
Calling every lawyer I have ever worked with. Sometimes my job has unforeseen perks 👍🏻

I'm a contractor. this is utter bullshit, beginning from the "heat and humidity" excuse (crap) and ending with the "carpet" bullshit. the treads are not thick enough and not correctly supported. they have a license. call the licensing board and complain. then call a lawyer. DM me if I can help.n

1.Submit a Written Notice: Send a certified letter to All American Flooring's claims department detailing the defect, including your original invoice, proof of installation, and photos.
2. Order an Independent Inspection: Hire an NWFA/ICFI certified inspector if the retailer attributes the issue to site conditions or improper care rather than installation or manufacturing failure.
3. Escalate to Regulators: File a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division of your state's Attorney General or the BBB if the claim is improperly denied.

Hello…Again :
Bri, I don’t know who told you you couldn’t do vinyl on the stairs, but you absolutely can. We just built our home last year, and vinyl was an absolute option. It comes pre-sized, and then you just slide them on. It’s a little more expensive than the flat flooring, but it’s absolutely doable.

My husband is a woodworker (actually an architectural cabinet maker for over 35 years). He says they look like 3/4” treads which is not thick enough. You can use construction adhesive and trim screws to screw it down. They will need to be pre-drilled. They are probably moving because they weren’t attached correctly if at all. They’re giving you the run around because they effed up. It should be an easy fix.

What kind of warranty runs out after a couple of months?? Absolutely not. Glad you're talking to attorneys, but don't let THAT company be the one to fix it. Just make they pay for it!

if it was humidity from your garage or whatever bs that was, wouldn't it affect all the stairs?

Have the manufacturer of the wood flooring come out and take a look. They can put pressure on the install company.

File a claim with their insurance company not yours because faulty workmanship is not covered on your homeowners

Isn’t the framing of the stairs also made of wood? And hasn’t it been there for years without warping? Probably because they were installed properly.

It’s not that they are unable to offer a better solution. They are choosing NOT to provide you with the product/service you paid for.

Oh I am happy you posted this! My husband and I were going to start making calls next week to flooring companies for a quote to have ours redone, and they were on my list. So I will happily take them off the list!

OK, this is hurting my head. That’s not a brand new home. It was fine before with no warping but suddenly these guys come in and we got warping. Carpet is not going to help that if they’re saying the issue is coming from below I don’t know if they understand that the carpet goes on the top of the stairs… if the humidity is coming from the garage I’m guessing that it’s not been insulated again after they fixed the stairs.

Unacceptable. The underlying condition is of no concern if they didn't find it originally. If it is an issue that can be corrected with additional insulation, then you pay for the insulation and they warranty their work and materials. If they believe that carpet is the solution, then they provide that with the warranty.

Small claims court or even better what your doing lawyer up. You bought the warranty and they refused to inform you before installing about the garage. It’s their fault they have to fix it.

there is no way they didn't know this would've caused an issue pre-install. they should've made their suggestions before the work was done so u had options

How long did the wood acclimate in your house before installation?

I'm in the flooring industry and one, you can put vinyl on the stairs. Two, hire a flooring inspector to evaluate the work. I don't know what state you are in but if you go to the NWFA website, they have a section where you can find an inspector in your area. Carpet isn't the answer. The wood on the stairs should not warp. And if you had a humidity issue, it would affect the vinyl too. Not just three stairs.

it looks like the installed them upside down...wood has a natural warp and it was always explained to me to keep it straight you install would curve side down. someone messed up and they don't want to take accountability

This is their likely fault. This happens if they didn’t acclimatise the wood to your home before installing. Get a 3rd party to inspect and send a demand based on their findings. File Bbb/ag complaints as well. .
