This movie blew me away as a kid, and it shaped the way I grew up. I watched every single installment in theaters at least four times—twice subbed, twice dubbed. I wanted so badly to understand the Transformers in their original English that I started teaching myself the language. Every night after dinner, I’d spend 15 minutes blasting the DVDs with the volume turned up, switching between English and Japanese subtitles with a dictionary in hand. I even wrote down Optimus’s lines by hand until I had them completely memorized. I even got my manual driver’s license just so I’d be ready the moment an Autobot came falling from the sky. Peter, thank you for all the incredible memories. Your brother, Chester, Ironhide, Ratchet, Jazz, and so many others are waiting for you on the other side. Rest in peace, Peter.
