My friend in the Netherlands is on their 4th month of sick leave. The job hooked them up with a therapist for their ptsd and sent them a bundle of fruit. Checks still coming and job still there

It’s not fair you guys have to choose between your health and money. It makes me genuinely upset for you, I don’t know how I would manage not being able to seek care for fear of debt. I hope it gets better and America catches up to the rest of the world soon

My gf got an ear infection, her aunt died from meningitis from an ear infection, so I took her to the ER, it was 3 am so we had no other option, she literally passed out from the pain. Wdym $250 for the doctor to come in look at her ear then sent in his supervisor that literally just walked in said “I’m sorry your ear hurts” then walked out??? they prescribe pf ear drops, Antibiotics and a single pain killer that’s it, pls tell me why that costed $250 we spent less than 15 minutes with a doctor. Paid for the medication, missed work to fill the prescription and it was $250? What an absolute rip off, we both missed work, had to pay a late fee to pay our rent bc it was due the next day, bc of an unreasonable deductible. Mind you we both pay $500+ a month for insurance. American is a scam.

seeing my doctor is ~$300 before insurance. $30 co-pay and a ~$130 bill that i can’t afford. that $300 doesn’t include the lab fees when my thyroid levels need to be checked.

I’ve always said, I don’t need to be filthy rich and own mansions or yachts, I want to be the type of rich that you can go to the grocery store, fill your cart and you’re not calculating the total during your trip because you know you’re going to have enough regardless. Rich enough that a car repair doesn’t take months of strain of penny pinching hoping you can make it through. Rich enough that the thought of Christmas shopping doesn’t even enter your mind until November because you don’t have to save all year to have a few presents for your kids under the tree.
