@nourishingapothecary: If you’re waiting until ovulation day to have sex, you may be missing some of your most fertile days. The egg only remains viable for a relatively short period after ovulation, whereas sperm can survive for several days in the female reproductive tract when fertile cervical mucus is present. That’s why, when you’re trying to conceive, I generally don’t want you waiting for confirmation that ovulation has already happened. Ideally, sperm are already present before the egg is released. This is also why understanding your fertile window matters so much more than simply knowing what “cycle day” you’re on. Ovulation doesn’t occur on day 14 for every woman, and it can shift from cycle to cycle. In my first full-length YouTube video, I break down the fertility foundations I wish more couples understood before and while trying to conceive, including your fertile window, ovulation tracking, cervical mucus, timing intercourse, preconception nutrition and preparing both partners. The full video is live now on the Nourishing Apothecary YouTube channel. And I’ll be releasing a new long-form educational video every week covering fertility, hormones, pathology and the clinical questions we see every day at Nourishing Apothecary. #TryingToConceive #Fertility #Ovulation #FertileWindow #TTC
