I really like that the episode are near to each other because by any means the Titanic was a tragedy that he could have changed since it wasn't the real Titanic and the events were too blurry, but he still couldn't save everyone he wanted to. Then comes waters or Mars, an episode set in the future on a event that shouldn't be this big for us but for the doctor it is, and he snapped because even if it was fixed in time he just couldn't accept it anymore and tried chosing what happens, which led to the foreshadowing of the professor in Titanic.
