If you think about it, people used to become mathematicians in order to get some kind of good job. And you would go to school for 4, 6, 8 or more years to learn as much math as you possibly could fit into your brain. And soon the gap between how much you could possibly learn in a lifetime and how much every single AI is going to know will be massive. And at that point, I don’t know that there’s really much reason to go to college for math when you’ll have a box next to you that you can simply ask whatever question and it’ll spit out the answer. For instance, you could learn long division in a few days right now, but you are holding in your hand a device that can divide virtually any size number with any other number instantaneously. So what’s the point in learning long division? Doing long division is slow and prone to errors. And nowadays, you would just check with a calculator anyway to make sure you didn’t mess up. Now just extrapolate that to any concept in math.
