I do exactly this, but keep the branch names the same when flux performs a check. then have git perform a sanity check create pr and merge

I have podman containers and local ai with an agent loop and spec that runs every 3 days, checks my containers health and status, and delivers a report - from there I can just reply and it handles the update

the laziest way is with watchtower, but any automated update system is the fastest way of introducing bugs and security issues

I just migrated to this from several docker compose.yml files. I use k3s + renovate + flux. there is a ton more config, really leaning on the LLMs for help. but it does work, and the reconciliation is nice. there is some fatigue from all the merge requests to be honest, might set up automerge on all non-major version upgrades
