El lentigo maligno es un melanoma in situ que aparece en piel con daño solar crónico, sobre todo en la cara de adultos mayores, y crece lentamente durante años. Se presenta como una mácula marrón asimétrica, de varios tonos y bordes irregulares, que puede confundirse con un lentigo solar; cuando invade la dermis se denomina lentigo maligno melanoma. La dermatoscopia orienta la biopsia. El tratamiento es quirúrgico con márgenes adecuados o controlados, como la cirugía de Mohs, y el imiquimod o la radioterapia son opciones cuando no es operable.
