@newsfromnowheregirl: I just rewatched Buffalo 66 and completely fell back in love with it. It had been a long time since I’d seen it (like 2 years!!) and it was lovely to revisit it. However, seeing the date of when I watched it for the first time on my letterboxd filled me with so much dread. I felt so old. Time is passing by and I’m hopeless to stop it. I think good films always make me a little exsistential lol. Hopefully it’ll clear up after a couple of hours and I’ll be back to normal. Thats the curse of being so affected (in good and bad ways) by art. It is sometimes hard to leave the fantasy of a piece of art, and the security it provides. It’s like a form of escapism. If I’m watching a film, for an hour and a half, I don’t have to be myself. I can experience life through the eyes of another. I get the chance to experience things I could only dream of doing. There’s a beauty to it, but it’s melancholic at the same time. It can make me feel miserable and burnt out. But sometimes it can fill me with inspiration, which is always nice. I find Buffalo ‘66 a very inspiring film in relation to my own creative endeavours. I want to make music that sounds like how this film looks. (And of course, I’m inspired by so many other things- films, books, shows, other songs, poems, etc..) but I have a bad habit of becoming obsessed with things and then wanting my entire existence to revolve around said thing. I’m working on it, and I think as I am growing older and writing more and creating more (and hopefully are in the process of finding my own artistic vision) I find myself doing this less and less, and instead I use these pieces of art as a stepping stone. A sturdy foundation to build upon. Something to look back on when needing inspiration or simply feeling insecure, but not something to center completely. Because then nothings being created and the chain stops. The chain of art. Artist/artwork and then the influence. It’s a cyclical structure. One cannot exist without the other. Ying and Yang, I don’t know. I hope I’m making sense. I’m not even sure if I know what I’m saying lol. Anyway, maybe expect a few more edits inspired by Buffalo ‘66 coming from me in the next couple of days. I have a few ideas but nothing concrete yet. I’ll just see how they work/turn out. Regardless, I’ll be posting. I pretty much always am lol. I love it, and I appreciate all of you.
