South Carolina's governor appointed Graham's sister, Darline Graham Nordone, to serve out the term. She had never held elected office. Trump pushed for her publicly before she was appointed and before she entered the race to keep the seat. Asked about national security in a televised debate, she said she was not that informed on it. The crowd booed her. A sitting Republican congressman, Ralph Norman, twenty years in office, ran against her for the nomination and lost. Here is what happened in between. Trump held a rally for her in Myrtle Beach on 21 August. His super PAC put more than 827,000 dollars behind her. On 25 August she won the Republican runoff 52.5 percent to 47.5 percent. She now goes to the November election holding a seat she was handed rather than one she won. This is Trompenaars' ascription against achievement, and the ascription side won.
