I used to be full of rage, a heart burning to protect a grave. But over the years I’ve learned the joy of being kind and being warm. Even if I get hurt, what a privilege it is to be kind to those around me. What a joy it is to no longer cling to that wrath. Even if I feel grief and sadness, despite it all I warm myself at my own hearth. Despite the pain, I am kind. I try to be kind. I am warm for the first time in my life.

I’ve been used up dried up tied up and left to rot in pain. Maybe this anger controls me but it’s better than pretending I’m okay.
