@narcissisticpartners: Hi, it's Juliana! The problem isn't asking about the $150 he gave me the week before. It's the control that happens next. What do I mean? I tell him I spent the $150 on groceries. He makes it seem like I spent too much. Then punishes me for it. “Just make me a list and I'll get it myself.” How is this a punishment? I go from being able to buy the groceries myself to having to go through him to get them. And in narcissistic relationships, it often doesn't stop there. Because if I spend too much on groceries, I probably spend too much in other areas of my life. Or at least, that's the logic narcissistic partners often use. So if I need gas? I have to ask him. If I need new clothes? I have to ask him. If I need something for the house? I have to ask him. And he always gets to decide: How much money I get. When I get it. What I can spend it on. Things like that. And that's what can make it abusive. He's controlling my access to money.
