I will never understand US Catholics, always fighting for the smallest things, in Spain nobody cares how you take it. Both are valid, although here is more common in hand, as it’s usually more hygienic.

Hand Communion is not less pure than receiving Communion on the tongue. It is explicitly permitted by the Church, and in many countries and parishes it is even the more common way of receiving Communion. It is also not some modern invention. Communion in the hand was practiced in the early Church. Receiving on the tongue is perfectly valid, but it is strange to act as though you receive Communion in a somehow better or more Catholic way simply because you receive it on the tongue.You are not a better Catholic because of it, nor are you preserving some tradition that is essential to Catholicism. Don’t be more papal than the Pope. Treating your way of receiving Communion as being superior is not only historically questionable, but also rather contrary to the idea of Christian charity.
