This isn’t about medication ✋🏽. It’s about what healing can make possible when you keep choosing yourself, even in tiny ways. 🙏🏽 Five years ago I was hospitalised and told I’d be on medication for life. I believed it. I stayed on high dose antidepressants and mood stabilisers for five years (with other trials along the way). It wasn’t linear or easy, but I’m deeply grateful for the safety and stability medication gave me alongside therapy and healing. It helped steady me while I learnt the skills to regulate, cope, and live again. ❤️🫂 Today marks 30 days medication free, after three months tapering with my psychiatrist. ✨ I’m sharing this not as advice, or a “look at me” moment, but as hope. 💪🏽 I’m proud because this milestone represents self trust, nervous system work, consistency, support, and learning how to hold myself. I never thought I’d experience this level of self regulation, especially after multiple hospitalisations and a highly stigmatised BPD diagnosis. 💪🏽 But if I can get here from where I was… there is hope for you too. A reminder that matters: medication can be short term or long term. Staying on it can be life saving. Coming off it can be part of someone’s path too. There’s no hierarchy. You’re not “better” or “worse” based on what supports you. 👏🏽 I’m sharing this for anyone who feels stuck right now. ❤️ The person who thinks, “I’m always going to be like this.” You won’t always feel this way. With the right support, trust, and time, life can change. You’re not failing. You’re becoming. #mentalhealthrecovery #healingispossible #bpdrecovery #nervoussystemregulation #recoveryjourney
