In 2020, I flared my back picking up a book… I blamed myself with anger for not having good enough form when reaching down. I then spent the next year in a toxic cycle… Obsess over perfect robotic movement through life ➡️ BOOM. Still get a flare up. ➡️ Blame myself for still not being perfect enough. Commit to being more flawless in life’s movement.➡️ BOOM. Flare up. 🔄and so it continued🔄 Once this dead end, self limiting frame of mind left me hopeless…I pendulum swung to an extreme opposite. “I’m going to have the STRONGEST back possible where movement perfection is irrelevant” This journey did lead to unnecessary flare ups (which gave me valuable insight), but eventually over the span of 4-5 years… It progressed to where it became extremely difficult for me to get an acute flare up from any wrong movement. Now that does NOT mean everyone’s journey should be so extreme and direct towards insane spine strength. The first 6 months of my journey was simply DESENSITIZING my spine to handle any kind of firing whatsoever. By this point of achievement, I was 90% painfree. Think iso static holds. From then building decent levels of further strength and mobility, I got to never feeling my back 99% of the time. This is my goal for everyone. The crazy shit I ventured onto later was simply a reflection of my rebellious heart lol. NOT necessary for almost anyone to become pain free. HOWEVER, with a long enough time horizon…this kind of progression is not a scary and dangerous as we’ve been led to believe. Research has a long way to go still. New protocols, new results will hopefully lead to new interest in academia to reapproach testing the “spine facts” with a new angle and curiosity. Anyway, if nothing else I hope this story is empowering for you to consider that maybe your body isn’t flawed by fragility. You may have far more potential, with the right preparation, than you can even see right now. Play the long game. ❤️‍🩹
