You can not understand your child, communicate effectively and encourage cooperation If you don’t become these 3 things: A keen observer, An effective communicator and a play facilitator. The purpose of becoming a keen observer is to identify your child’s needs to ultimately make an informed decision. And you do this through active listening The purpose of becoming an effective communicator is to inform and ultimately persuade. You will fail to persuade if you do not connect. The way you become an effective communicator is through Empathy Active listening Setting boundaries Clarity and consistency Responsibility encouragement Play is the natural language of childhood, the primary way children learn, grow, and make sense of their world. That’s why you need to master becoming a play facilitator. It helps them develop communication skills, cognitive flexibility and executive functions. Essentially anything from, expression through words, emotional regulation, attention and inhibition to social skills, negotiation and cooperation. When you observe keenly, communicate effectively, and facilitate play, you step into your child’s world with wisdom, connection, and influence. Wisdom gives you clarity to understand their needs, connection builds the trust that keeps them close, and influence allows you to guide them without force. “This is how you create the conditions for a child, not to be merely obedient, but to become genuinely cooperative.”
