externally beaded means no water ever comes in through the beads as it can on a sea front in severe weather as the rebate is on the inside. internally beaded can let water in. once the panel or glass is stuck to the tape you can never get it out without cutting through the tape on the inside as shown in this video. pvc foam tape is incredibly strong.
