You can also consider factoring these as the difference of squares and difference of cubes and the gcf comes out pretty quickly. (25-4)(25+4) and (5-2)(25+10+4)

Actually, there is a easier way to do this: Is well known that if a ,b are comprime numbers then gcd(a^m-b^m, a^n-b^n)=a^d-b^d where d=gcd(m,n) (you can prove this by Euclidean algorithm) hence the gcd that I'm looking for is 5-2=3

MATHEMATICAL OLYMPIADS :
(25-4)(25+4) and (5-2)( 25+4+10) so 21.29?and 3.39 so clearly 3 is the greatest common factor.

Idk I just did 625 -16 is 609 and 125- 8 is just 117 then 203, 39, and 203 ain’t no more so it’s just 3

try any number eg 7⁵-5⁵ and 7⁴-5⁴ itll end in 7-5=2 👌but long soln is still better to understand whats going on.

Why would you solve it like this? It will take a lot of time
