Awkwardly, we built it 😂 Buckingham Electrical [.co.uk] The original website went live in 2023 and I love the website along with their founder Josh Buckingham who is a blessing to work with! Nevertheless it's closing in on three years and the blog has haunts me for a little while now. Why. The disconnected layout and early AI imagery immediately give its age away. So we’ve been assigned the task to update it 🎉. Now for the how: 1 - We researched brilliant blog experiences. Categories. Search and filtering. Hover states. Load-more system. Devise a plan. 2 - Update the imagery. On this occasion the images are still AI-generated, but they now share a much more consistent direction - which makes the whole section feel significantly more professional. 3 - Straight to development 😱. Yolkk typically works with design and developers. The role is sometimes seen as entirely separate but the line was often blurred even before AI. I realise the video didn't have the opportunity to see the process here but when you can describe your needs to AI from both a design and dev perspective you can do incredible work very quickly. It's often the research, creativity and planning which can take longer! 4 - Continue... There’s still plenty to do across the wider website. That’s partly the point. Websites shouldn’t necessarily launch and then sit untouched for three years. We’re currently testing a monthly digital subscription that allows us to keep improving sites like this over time - although we’re only partnering with a small number of selected businesses while it remains in beta 👀 More updates soon! --- Buckingham Electrical offer industrial and commercial electrical services across the East Midlands.
