If you search “androgenetic alopecia” the data says that you can’t cure it. You can only try to slow down the progress with prescription medications but for women it’s unlikely that you can regrow hair.

hi sofia! i was wondering how i can find out for sure that hair loss ist caused by androgenetic alopecia? i do have women with hair loss issues in my family, at least on one side (specifically my grandma and aunts). however, when i was at my dermatologists they told me theres not really a way to figure this out for sure. they could do blood work to find out if there was something else that would be causing it, like a nutrient deficiency. but they told me a hormone-test is not as trustworthy as it may seem because a negative test does not exclude androgenetic alopecia as the cause for hair loss. i feel a little lost because i would like to start some sort of treatment for my hair loss (i am only 22) as its getting worse and worse. i know minoxidil works for all kinds of hair loss and could be a first resort either way. but i would like to be sure just so i know what to expect in the future and how to know if i can stop minoxidil treatment without finding out the hard way, that when i stop it my hair loss might come back in the long run. i was also told that the sooner you start treatment, the better since hair follicles could be damaged to a point where there is no saving them. do you know how to get a sure diagnosis? or is there something you would recommend to me and my case? love your content btw! ✨
