I’ve had 3 setons in before having my rectum removed. It can be uncomfortable and they will get loose as they heal the fistula but definitely makes a difference that constantly getting infected. I have had to wear pads the whole time as they are draining constantly but mine were caused from Crohn’s disease so were never going to heal until I had major organ removal surgery - hopefully that’s not the case for you!

Seaton has been good for me. just need to make sure your cleaning it well, Def recommend a bidet

I’ve got a complex fistula and two setons. If yours is not complex hopefully you can just get the fistulotomy and not have to deal with setons.

Had a seton for about 18 months and in no rush to have it removed. If you do end up with one I would advise getting a bidet, you can get a portable/travel one pretty cheap from amazon.

That’s what I had. It was a relief to be honest. I was ill for so long then it was finally found. I wanted to die I was so ill. The did a Seaton and it saved me! I haven’t had one since. It must be 18 years ago now. I really feel for you. I hope the Seaton helps you xxx ❤️🩹
