@meg.beacon: Am I making the right choice for my baby? Am I feeding him enough? Am I doing enough? Am I doing too much? Should I be doing things differently? Am I listening to my instincts? Am I advocating enough? Did I handle that situation the right way? Should I have trusted myself more? The questions never really seem to stop. And when your baby is doing things differently from what you expected, I think the second-guessing can get even louder. You hear what everyone else’s baby is doing. You hear the advice. You read the milestones. You hear what worked for someone else. And suddenly you’re wondering whether you’re missing something. Whether you should be doing more. Whether you should be doing less. Whether you’re getting it right. I’ve realised that sometimes I don’t actually need another person to tell me what to do. I don’t need another opinion. I don’t need another list of things I should try. Sometimes I just need someone to say: “I see you.” I see how much you’re thinking about this. I see how much you care. I see how hard you’re trying. I see how much you love your baby. And you’re doing okay. That’s what I’ve found in the little moments of connection with other mums. A message. A hug. A little light showing that someone else is awake too. It doesn’t fix whatever I’m worrying about. It doesn’t give me all the answers. But it reminds me that I’m not the only mum sitting there wondering if she’s getting it right. Because maybe we’re all second-guessing ourselves a little. Maybe we’re all wondering if we’re doing enough. Maybe we’re all secretly looking for reassurance that we’re not messing this whole motherhood thing up. And maybe we don’t need to have all the answers. Maybe sometimes we just need another mum to look at us and say: I see you. You’re doing your best. And that’s enough for today. 🤍 #motherhood #momlife #newmom #postpartum #momcommunity
