In reality, your body isn’t the problem. Your brain is trying to protect you. When you’re scared of going upside down, your nervous system can put you into a kind of safe mode — a protective response you don’t consciously control. So what happens? You don’t kick quite enough. You hold back. You’re scared of hitting the wall — even though you’re actually strong enough to get there. Because the wall is a whole new, unknown world 😅 Your strength and technique are only part of the puzzle. Your brain also needs to learn: “Going upside down is safe.” And the best way to teach it? Give it a good experience. You follow the right steps, kick with enough commitment, the wall catches you and you don’t fall. Your brain gets new information: Oh. I’m okay. Next time, you can kick a little harder. Then a little more. And after enough good experiences (we need many repetitions) Pincha or any other upside-down pose slowly moves from the “scary” box to the “I can do this” box in your brain. And that’s when things start changing. So instead of asking: “How do I stop being scared?” Try asking: “How can I create one good experience today?” That’s a much more useful question 💛 If you made it this far, I have a free Pincha class for you: 3 Common Mistakes in Pincha. I’ll help you set up your technique correctly, so you can start giving your brain those good experiences and slowly move your Pincha from the “scary” box to the “I can do this” box 💛 Comment CLASS and I’ll send it to you 😉 xo Yulia
