Here's the issue.. If a town is geographically, in a unique position, where the citizens and vacations come to en mass, is ever put in a position that requires Federal assistance, THE FEDS WILL REMEMBER WHEN THEY WERE TOLD NO.. THEY WILL ULTIMATELY SEND HELP, BUT NOT AS RAPID A RESPONSE AS NECESSARY.. BASICALLY EVERY BODY PLAY NICE IN THE SAND BOX, WE ALL GET ALONG FOLLOW ALL LAWS.. AND THOSE WHO HAVE THE BIGGER ASSETS WILL HELP THOSE OF US WHO DO NOT .

Interesting fun fact: Cape May County is strongly Republican-leaning, and the numbers make that pretty clear. * Registered voters (June 2026): about 34,000 Republicans, 18,600 Democrats, and 23,100 unaffiliated/nonpartisan. Republicans outnumber Democrats by roughly 15,400. * In the 2025 governor’s race, Republican Jack Ciattarelli won Cape May County 58.1% to 41.5% for Democrat Mikie Sherrill—a roughly 16.6-point Republican advantage. * Republicans also won both Assembly seats in Cape May County in 2025. Wake up New Jersey ! You could have this too!

It has never made sense to me how a Constitutional Officer, such as the Sheriff, can ignore federal laws. However, if the Sheriff ignores NJ Attorney General, funding to the department may be slashed.
