This is CCTV footage of the border crossing and it was one of the most disturbing videos I’ve seen. There was no where for these to people run to that was safe.

There’s no way they’re going to find even a small percentage of those people missing. That much energy and debris, people would have been torn apart and buried. Really sad.

The important part of the comparison between Helene and what happened here is they were both cause by worsening effects of climate change. We’re going to start seeing many more catastrophes like this all over the world as we move farther into end stage climate change

With the geographic setup of the region it almost feels like this was a matter of when, not if. That snow/ice wouldn’t stay up there forever. A true roll of the dice having to live down near the water source. Those poor people 😪
