@newcastlereefer: fun facts - pistol shrimp grow to the size of a finger and considered to produce one of the loudest biological sounds in the ocean, their "snap" is ridiculously powerful, the best part, the claw isnt what creates the snap sound, a high speed jet of water is shot creating a cavitation bubble, when the bubble collapses it produces an incredibly loud shockwave, very close range snaps have been recorded at around 200db, though these db underwater are not comparible to those produced in sounds in air. #ocean #shrimp #oceanlife #aquarium #fyp
