In 2009, I was living in Norway and pregnant with my son. I was in the newly built Akershus University Hospital in Lørenskog, Norway and the King and Queen were visiting the maternity ward. I was by myself, no family and my fiancé never visited. I was there from week 18 and staying until birth due to many complications. They spent 10 minutes in my room, chatting and asking about my stay. They didn’t have to, but they made me feel so welcome and cared for. He asked if I had a name picked out and I told him Alexander. He agreed it was a fine name for a boy and asked if he could touch my belly. I allowed it, not sure what was going to happen… he laid his hand on my huge stomach and said in English: “May this child always feel the love his mother expresses in the way she speaks of him now. May he know joy and peace. And may the gods bless him.” I was so touched, I didn’t know what to do. They didn’t have to spend any time with me at all, but they did. I was just a lonely pregnant woman in a foreign country and they made me feel so loved in that moment. Rest in peace, Haakon 💔 I’ll always remember how you felt like a father to me in that moment 😭

How hard is it to move from American to Norway. I’m honestly starting to wonder if I need to be there. I love everything about it and I’ve never seen a terrible Norwegian. I’m so sorry your king is gone 💔
