@devobeant: #germany #ww2 #History ⚠️No promotion of any ideology⚠️ This colorized photograph shows $S officers Joachim Peiper and Max Wünsche on the terrace of H!tler’s Berghof at the Obersalzberg, photographed on 29 July 1940. At the time, Peiper was serving as an adjutant to Heinrich H!mmler, a position he held during the early years of the Second World War before returning to frontline service. Wünsche was another $S officer who would later hold commands in the Waffen-$S. The photograph belongs to a series taken by Walter Frentz during H!mmler’s visit to the Berghof shortly after the German victory over France. Other photographs from the same sequence show Peiper alongside Hans Pfeiffer and Karl Wolff, as well as members of H!tler’s entourage. Peiper subsequently became a prominent Waffen-$S commander. Units under his command were accused of being involved in war crimes during the conflict, and after the war he was convicted by a U.S. military court in the Malmedy massacre trial. Peiper is one of the most popular Waffen-S$ commander especially during the operation Wacht am Rhein.
