I’m Gen Z with Gen X parents. I was in elementary school (like 2nd grade) getting my little sister (kindergarten) and I ready for school every morning. I was responsible for making sure we were awake on time, we were both dressed and fed, and that my dad was awake on time to take us. And if we were late it was my fault, not my grown ass fathers. They told me if I ever got pregnant I better find somewhere else to live. My mom told me and I quote “I love you but I don’t like you.” I paid $600/m in rent from the time I turned 18, which I feel is a bit steep. I get preparing your kid for the real world but $600 just to stay in my bedroom seems steep. When I was a kid my aunt let them rent her whole entire house for $600/m. I was also in elementary school and I had a guinea pig that died (my first pet) and I was distraught. Like I was crying for hours bruh. My dad told me he would help me bury it. Well I don’t remember what happened (probably talked back or something) and as a punishment my dad threw my dead guinea pig in the outside trash can right in front me. I fully believe my parents resented ever having children. Like boomers still value family, but my parents made it clear that they really had no interest in knowing us kids.
