My father passed when i was younger, never cried. My father figure passed away recently, he's been one of my family's only reliable support system since i was a child, didnt shed a tear at the funeral. I tried forcing myself to cry when i got home but i know it wasn't real. People think not having empathy is someone trying to be cool and badass but it's honestly hell. I can't even honor him like a normal person

You aren’t a bad person for this. As an empath I understand your struggle and I know you guys don’t choose to feel like that. But the fact that you still try to show that you care and give sympathy, shows you’re not a bad person. Don’t doubt yourself for things you can’t completely control for now or ever

We do it to protect ourselves. Empathy takes on the pain of others and can be unbearable at times, as it is for Will Graham
