@shelbyhaeve: Reuploaded with no music auto added by TikTok 🤦‍♀️ 8/27 Council voted unanimously on item 61, a resolution related to data center regulations. This is a resolution which is directed at creating an ordinance (basically city law) to ban some data centers of a certain size and regulate others. We want council to be extremely thoughtful about how our community resources and land. Groups like @saveoursprings were very clear that the existing standards being explored are not strict enough, and need to consider the real and extensive damage private companies do when operating these facilities. We also need urgency. The handful of data centers operating in Austin already are accountable to next to no one and already our neighbors are suffering the consequences. The fight isn’t over.
