East TN girl here! Get a cabin! Hidden mountain cabins are beautiful. DO NOT leave food in your car!! The bears will break into your car if they smell it. Also sky bridge, mountain coaster, Dollywood, and a drive thru cades cove is a must!!

We rented a house in the mountains (VRBO) and drove into Gatlinburg. The city itself was overly crowded, so it was nice to do our thing and get away to the mountain house!

Just don’t leave the car unlocked OR the door to the cabin unlocked because the bears will get inside. They know how to open door handles of all kind. Don’t mean to scare you more but that’s my only fear there even though they’re not aggressive. My fear is bears. Period. Can’t help it. 😅
