I’ve trained my kids so well that if I tell them “don’t tell daddy” they will say “we don’t keep secrets” and then run up and tell their dad whatever I said not to tell him. If they can do that with me, they can do that with anyone!

I have witnessed my aunts tell my cousins son to not tell his mom stuff (example- hes not supposed to eat sweets as hes sensitive to sugar, they give it to him then ask him not to tell mom) and yet they were soooo shocked when i said "yeah Im never letting yall watch my baby girl because we dont hide things, thats how children end up molested and stuff"

My MIL tries to bribe her way into having more access . I tell her I’ll always be there to accompany her with my daughters. She constantly begs for alone time. Even when they were newborns. She’s a narcissist & my husband learned his narcissistic behaviors from her.

Im in the process of cutting off the grandparents bc they kept it a secret they were driving my kid around without a booster seat (they definitely still need) and I only found out because my kid came to tell me bc it made them feel unsafe.

If mine or my husband’s families ever told our kids “don’t tell mom/dad”, we wouldn’t be around them anymore! Thankfully our families are always supportive of the boundaries we set and I’m grateful for that

i didn’t kiss my nephews until my best friend told me it was okay cus that’s just basic respect and when i’d kiss them i’d kiss the part further from their face, feet, head, and most of the time a hug was just fine cus i’d get a snuggle back!

I have a long, scary list of reasons why my ILs will never be unsupervised with our children but a nail in the coffin was my FIL saying “What mom doesn’t know won’t hurt her.” In my hospital room. Day after birth. 🙂 then at 4mo my son was very attached to me, naturally, and he looked at him in my arms and said “Don’t worry, one day we’re gonna ‘connect’ and you’re not going to care about your mommy anymore.” He didn’t touch him again until well after his first birthday.

I taught my daughter that if someone says “shh don’t tell mom” or “shh this’ll be our secret” or something like that to come tell me instantly what was said/done. I’ll be teaching my son the same thing
