For the most part, whether it’s the PLP or the FNM, both governments have failed to do enough for the average Bahamian. Too often, government jobs seem to go to friends, family, and political connections instead of the most qualified people. Meanwhile, Bahamians are struggling to survive while being heavily taxed. Our beaches should be accessible to Bahamians, and we need to start fighting to protect our right to use them. We also need to address the serious immigration problem in this country. Other nations are taking control of their immigration systems, so why can’t we? We cannot continue allowing our limited resources and opportunities to become harder for Bahamians to access while our own people struggle. And this isn’t just about the PLP. I remember when an FNM Prime Minister was encouraging Bahamians to patronize Asian-owned businesses during a time when Bahamians themselves were struggling financially. That bothered me because I believe our government should be encouraging Bahamians to support Bahamian businesses and Bahamian families first. These are just some of the issues, but my point is simple: this isn’t PLP versus FNM. Both governments have failed Bahamians in many ways. We need leaders who will actually put Bahamians first.
