My ex used to do this. I used to ask him before events I was nervous for to please not make fun of me because it would make me socially anxious. Sad for myself looking back.

My ex’s dad did this to his wife every time we were out in public or around family members. It made me feel so uncomfortable that I brought it to my attention and he blew it off like it was nothing. I stopped hanging out with his family months before we broke up.

it’s why i called my ex Regina George—just laughing it up at my expense and calling me the meanest nicknames like “cheater” “roommate” “dumbo/dumb ass with an English degree” or “bum”, even getting in contact with people who previously abused/hurt me and them all laughing at my expense. i could tell how irritated he would get when people would compliment my intelligence, laugh at my jokes, and he’d punish me for it by accusing me of cheating or claiming that they were just saying it to be nice. and yet what really angered me was how much he’d fake to his family and talk about how great i was knowing he was doing all of this to me and putting me down every. single. day. i felt like for years i was sleeping next to my biggest bully and that isn’t an experience id wish on anyone
