Talk about bending over backwards! This beautifully preserved Gorgosaurus libratus, a cousin of T. rex, is one of the coolest fossils on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Alberta, Canada. At ~76 million years old, this juvenile was found in the Dinosaur Park Formation in Dinosaur Provincial Park, an area famous for its Late Cretaceous fossils. What makes this specimen so incredible is that it's articulated, meaning the bones are still arranged the way they were in life! That level of preservation is pretty rare. Most skeletons are found scattered or damaged by scavengers, weather, or water before burial. But in this case, this Gorgosaurus was quickly buried by river sand, protecting the skeleton from disturbance. This resulted in a breathtaking, nearly complete fossil in what paleontologists call the
