@imolelehmann: This startup uses drones to control the weather. Rainmaker just became the first company ever to make extra rain and snow fall over Alaska. And the results are kind of insane. In three hours, they made enough water to cover 150 American households for a full year. With just two drones. The drones fly into clouds that already hold water and release tiny particles. Those particles help more of the water freeze until it's heavy enough to fall as rain or snow. But the crazy part is how fast this could scale. Rainmaker says 36 drones flying in relays could cover Utah's entire Bear River Basin. That's 7,500 square miles. All that extra snow later melts into streams, rivers, and reservoirs, where it keeps farms, cities, and hydropower going through the dry months. And they say this is how we'll actually start fighting climate change. Their goal is to stop the Great Salt Lake from shrinking by 2030, and to double the Colorado River's flow by 2031. I honestly think we'll engineer our way out of a lot of our climate problems. Because companies like Rainmaker won't only produce more water for humans. More water also means healthier rivers, forests, and wetlands, and better habitats for the animals and plants that live there. So this could turn into a serious conservation tool. It keeps ecosystems in balance, lowers wildfire risk, and gives threatened species a real shot at recovery. That's a future I find a lot more hopeful.
