If you would like more security and locks, you are more than free to go to a "modern" hotel or an airbnb, Riads are old houses they are not going to change the authenticity of Marrakech to please tourists needs. I am 100% that everyone there was safe and no one was robbed or anything bad happened.

Hey so ur staying in a riad it wasn’t meant to be a hotel its the old houses Moroccan people used to live in so they didnt need locks on the inside this is more to close the door on kids and animals marrakesh is 2000 years old and if u want more modern accommodation there are thousands of airbnbs and hotels with very high security :)
