22-month-old Kyrie Starks was left in the care of Kimora Hodges, a woman his mother considered both a friend and a trusted babysitter who had watched Kyrie before. On the night of June 13, 2022, something went terribly wrong. Early the following morning, Hodges contacted Kyrie’s mother and claimed the toddler had eaten soap and appeared to be having an allergic reaction. When his mother rushed home, she found Kyrie on the floor suffering seizure after seizure and immediately called 911. At the hospital, doctors discovered this wasn’t an allergic reaction. Kyrie had suffered devastating blunt-force trauma to his head. His injuries included bleeding around his brain, known as a subdural hemorrhage, as well as hemorrhaging in both of his eyes. His mother said he was also bleeding from his ears. The damage was so severe that doctors had to perform emergency brain surgery. Kyrie’s mother later said she was told her son had been thrown against a wall and violently shaken. Police said Hodges admitted to abusing the child during their investigation. Kyrie remained hospitalized with catastrophic brain damage and ultimately never recovered. He died on June 22, 2022, just weeks before his second birthday. The case would take years to reach a jury. In July 2025, Kimora Hodges was found guilty of felony murder and first-degree child abuse. On November 4, 2025, she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, along with 15–40 years for the child-abuse conviction. #truecrime #crimetok #cops #bodycam #copsoftiktok
