🎉 GUNNER’S FREEDOM RIDE 🎉 While volunteering at the shelter the other day, I walked into the kennels and all I could hear was a dog howling. Between all the barking, that howling was the one thing that stood out to me. I started walking through the kennels, trying to find out who was crying like that. That’s when I found Gunner. He was howling and crying, with the saddest look on his face… 🥺 I looked at his kennel card and learned that Gunner was an 8-year-old senior who had lived his entire life with the same family, since he was a puppy. But just a few days ago, his family moved to another state and decided Gunner couldn’t come with them. So they left him at the shelter. 💔 I took Gunner for a walk, hoping I could cheer him up, but I couldn’t. All he did was cry and look around, searching for something he had lost… That’s when I recorded Gunner’s video and shared his story with the world. And that’s when it reached the person we had been looking for… 🥹 His new mom watched the video of Gunner crying and missing his family. It made her cry too, and she knew she had to bring happiness back into his life. The very next day, her husband drove to the shelter to meet Gunner. The moment they met, he just knew they were meant to be together. He didn’t hesitate for a second. That same day, Gunner went home. I will never forget the moment Gunner met his new dad. It was the first time I had seen him truly happy. He was excited, wagging his tail, and finally just being himself again. I truly believe Gunner knew that this person was there to take him home and become his new DAD… ❤️ And now, Gunner is living his best life. His family says he has bonded so well with their other dogs, loves to play, follows his mom everywhere, and loves laying next to her. He also got a bath, and apparently, he really likes baths! 🥹❤️ Thank you to the family who saved Gunner’s life. And thank you to every single person who shared his video and helped his story reach the right person.
