I think the logic in separating them on the show is Helen is not Silo 1 material, she would never go along with executing the safeguide and she would also greatly influence Donald against it too. She's headstrong and her values don't align with the founder's values at all.

I desperately want more of Helen's life in Silo 18 than the books gave us (which was basically nothing). I think it would make a fantastic addition to the book series as well! Who wouldn't want to read about that first Silo generation through Helen's eyes?

I think they separate Daniel and Helen cause they would of been too much of a disruption together… so sad at the end when she’s like “Daniel” as she’s getting dragged back in the silo
